Trim AC's Popular 10-Mile Race Continues to Excite
February 2, 2024
The hugely popular Trim 10-Mile Road Race returns this weekend, capturing the attention of runners from around the country.
The annual event, which has been running since 2015, has been sold out for months in advance of Sunday's race with 2000 runners expected to take to the start line, and Run Republic reached out to the organisers to learn more about what makes this 10-Miler stand out in the racing calendar.
The event was launched in 2015 by a committee from Trim AC 'to complement the club's existing annual Braveheart 5k race' with 800 people taking part in the inaugural run.
'It has continued to grow with 2000 runners entered for Sunday's event. It proves to be a hugely popular race which has sold out within hours over the past few years.
'It incorporates the Meath 10 mile championship also, and so many of the county's top athletes take part but the race also has a wide appeal.
'Many participants will be new to the 10 mile distance, and others use it as a stepping stone into half marathons and beyond.
'The distance and the time of year has proven to be a great combination for the experienced runner and novice runner alike.'
The race kicks off from its usual point, but for first timers, the race begins just off the Athboy Road entrance to Eamonn Duggan Industrial Estate. There will be cash prizes for categories and teams, so many will be looking to clock a good time with that in mind!
If you were not able to secure tickets this year due to the high demand, mark this event down in your calendar early for 2025 as it continues to grow and become more and more popular for runners from all around Ireland.
Whether you are preparing for a half marathon later in the year, or are just looking to test yourself over the 10-Mile distance, this race has all the ingredients of a great day of running!
