Letterkenny AC: Record-Breaking Runs and More!

Congratulations to LAC’s Catriona Jennings who finished 7th in the Comrades Marathon in South Africa. The race is 86 km long and Catriona finished only 59 seconds off 6th place.
In an outstanding club achievement Philip McGee has become the Ulster Champion in the under 19s category in the 3,000 metres.
Well done to all who raced in the Letterkenny Gaels 5km road race and well done in particular to Eimear Gormley who won the women’s race in 20:57.

Ballyraine National School 5km race was well supported and the first to cross the line was LAC’s Michael Black in a superb time of 16:41, Stephen Woods 18:22, Emma Bonar 19:33, Sean McFadden 19:35, Stephen McBride 20:57, Mark McFadden 21:01, Gary Kearns 21:27, Peter Gallagher 21:31, Ray McDermott 22:11, Margaret Shields 23:44, Kevin Lynch 24:08, Liam Wiseman 24:42, Kenny King 24:49, Alicia McNulty 25:12, Sam Gallagher 25:40, Richie Raymond 25:41, Sean McFadden 26:30 M50, Gavin McBride 27:16, Mary Gallagher 27:33, Claire Price 28:00, Denise Gallagher 29:20 and Angela McGee 36:31.
In the Illistrin National School 5km the first club member home was Stephen Shiels 21:43, Niamh Woods 21:44, Jane Toner 22:25, Gary Price 22:50, Aoibhinn Hegarty 24:06, Sean Hegarty 25:19, Sean Óg Haran 25:48, Oisin Cuskelly 27:31, Eoin Cuskelly 27:37, Lisa Gallagher 28:55, Brodie Barrett 29:38,
LAC’s Kieran Crawford was 15th in the Foyle Valley Out The Line 5 miler in a time of 26:20. Ciaran O'Donnell clocked 33:46 and finished 69th overall.
The race, which had 152 finishers, was won by Declan Reed from City of Derry Spartans in 25:21. His clubmate, Judith Storm, was the first woman home in 29:01.
Congratulations to LAC’s Teresa McDaid who was Ireland team manager in Rome at the European Championships.
LAC meets Tuesday 5.15pm and at 6.30pm for an interval running session, Thursday evening for a hill run at 6pm, Saturday morning at 9.30am for a tempo run and Sunday morning at 8am for a long run.
All runs start at the Aura. All levels catered for and encouraged.
Fit 4 Life which is run by LAC in conjunction with the Donegal Sports Partnership takes place every Monday and from next Monday the 24th June the session will commence at the new time of 6pm, on the track at the Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny.
