This week’s action begins in Kilkenny with the Medieval Mile Run 2023 on Friday December 1st. Hosted by the Kilkenny City Harriers, this popular event has been running for a number of years with great success and has been described as ‘a great event for whole families to do together.' This leads us into Saturday where we have two races for runners to choose from. The Waterford AC Half Marathon 2023 kicks off at 9:30am on December 2nd and is an event that ‘attracts 2,500 runners and joggers to Waterford’. The event is the main fundraiser for the club which ‘provides over 300 training sessions a year from ages 5 to masters grade’. The second race we have for you on Saturday is the Donore Harriers Jingle Bells 5k 2023. This race also kicks off at 9:30am in the Phoenix Park on Saturday December 2nd and is the 32nd year of this family fun run. Described as one of Ireland’s fastest 5k races, it is open to everyone from athletes to fun runners and walkers. This race has SOLD OUT so if you were lucky enough to enter, enjoy the festivities!

This weekend’s action closes with three races on Sunday taking place in three different counties around the country. The annual CRYS Jingle Bels Jog takes place at 11:30am on December 3rd from Carlow Rowing Club. This 5k event is open to people of all ages and abilities and is described as ‘ideal for established runners and is also the perfect target for those starting their Couch to 5k training.’ All funds raised go towards providing youth work supports to young people in Carlow. Sunday December 3rd also sees the National Novice and Uneven Age XC Championships 2023 take place in Meath at Navan Racecourse. Under 16s go free to this event and don’t require a ticket. Finally, the Santa Dash 2023 closes out our action for this weekend. The new flat course in St. Anne’s Park in Clontarf means it’ll be perfect for ‘first timers, walkers, fun runners and super-fast Santas!’ The distances for this one include a 5k and 10k.This event is also SOLD OUT so do not try to sign up to avoid disappointment!
