NATIONAL JUVENILE UNEVEN AGE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The National Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships were held in Navan on Sunday, December 3. Our Boys U13 club team qualified to participate in these championships by coming third in the team event in the Munster Championships. The five boys ran very well and were led home by 26th Albert Maher. Next, we had 77th Niall Quirke, 88th Jesse Julian, 93rd Rocco Julian and 146th Micheal Farrell in a large field of runners. Albert was 6th scorer on the Munster team that won the Silver. The Club team was 7th in a very competitive field. All of the boys were on the county team who were 9th. Well done to all. This race closes what was a very juvenile cross country season for 2023.
MEDIEVAL MILE RUN
The Medieval Mile Run was held on Friday, December 1 in Kilkenny. Dymphna Ryan had a fantastic race on what was a very cold night. She was 16th overall and 1st Woman in a fast time of 5:17.
NEWMARKET 5K
The Newmarket 5k was held on Sunday, December 3 in Newmarket, Co Cork and hosted by Duhallow AC. We had two athletes compete in this very competitive and fast race. First home for the club with another superb performance was 61st Dymphna Ryan 16:49 and was 1st Woman. Two wins in one weekend, great running by Dymphna. Literally on her heels was 63rd Philip O'Dwyer 16:49. Philip is thriving and improving all the time. He only started competing in races this year.
WATERFORD HALF MARATHON
The popular Waterford Half Marathon was held on Saturday, December 2. We had 4 athletes compete over the 21km distance on a cold day. First home for the club was Tom O'Connell in a new PB of 1:20:04, he was followed by William Keane 1:31:05, Mairead Julian 1:47:05 and Pat Hayes 2:06:09.
BORDER HALF MARATHON
The Border Half Marathon was held on Sunday, December 3 in Corbally, Co Limerick. We had 2 athletes compete in this race. Barry Hartnett had superb race to place 2nd in 1:15:42. John Barry also had a great race to clock a new PB in 1:42:35.
