MUNSTER JUVENILE B CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Munster Juvenile B Cross Country Championships was held in Riverstick, Co Cork on Sunday, November 26. We had 14 hardy athletes who ran. It started off a wet day and dried off for the races but it left the hilly course very wet underfoot. First off was the Girls U9 with 47th Carmel McHugh. In the Boys U9 we had three starters. Harry Creedon was running a fine race and was in the top 12 heading for the finish but got ill and had to pull which was unfortunate. Next, we had 28thSean Fitzgerald and 37th Rian O'Brien. We had a full team in the Girls U11 with 34th Aimee Ryan leading them home, she was followed by 50th Isobel Hartnett, 73rd Isla McHugh and 83rd Poppy Flavin. Aimee was on the county team that won Bronze. In the Boys U11 we had 54th Philip Croke and 93rd Harry Julian. In the Girls U13 we had 29th Taylor O'Toole and 46th Molly Butler. Both were on the county team that won Bronze. Micheal Ryan was 63rd in the Boys U13. Beibhinn Buckley was 36th in the Girls U15. Well done to all the athletes who took part on the day. Next, Sunday the All-Ireland Uneven Age Cross Country Championships will take place in Navan and we have a team of six in the Boys U13 who qualified through the Munster Championships taking part. We also have two girls in the U19 who qualified as part of the Munster team of 12. Best of luck to all of them competing at the highest level of juvenile running.

MUNSTER INTERMEDIATE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Munster Intermediate Cross Country Championships was held on Sunday, November 26 in Riverstick, Co Cork. The rainfall made for difficult underfoot conditions over a hilly course. We had 3 athletes compete in the men's race over 9km. First home for the club and just short of the podium in a fine run was 4th Barry Hartnett. Next, we had 25th Jim Hally and 27th Michael Moore. There wasn't enough runners to make up a club team or a county team unfortunately.

LONG WAY ROUND

The Long Way Round in aid of the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association was held on Saturday, November 25. It took off at 6pm in Clonmel. It was a 15km trek through the mountains in the dark and we had 3 athletes walk it, Claire Ryan, Martina Butler and Patricia Moloney.
