Dundrum AC Club Report: Racing Successes and Record-Breaking Feats

BALLYNEALE 5km Road Race
The first race in The Carrick On Suir Three Counties Road Race Series took place in Ballyneale on Friday 19th April. It was a gorgeous sunny evening. A total of 122 athletes took to the starting line. We had 2 club members take part. John Ryan was 5th overall in a time of 17.32 and in 25th place was Jim Halley 19.58. Fantastic running by both men.
THE GREAT RAILWAY RUN
The Great Railway Run, which is run by Carraigaline & District Lions Club in association with Carraigaline AC took place on Sunday 21st April. The 25km road race takes place along the route of the old railway line from Cork to Carraigaline. It is a predominantly flat route and the weather was lovely and dry with lots of sunshine. We had one athlete compete.Pat Hayes took on the 25km distance and finished in a great time of 2.45.
ZURICH HALF MARATHON
The Zurich Half Marathon was on Sunday 21st April. Unlike here at the weekend, the weather could not have been worse for running with lashing rain and a huge fall of snow just before the half way mark. We had one club member run in the 13.1 mile race, Aisling Ryan who currently lives in Switzerland ran a fantastic race in 1.18, a new PB for her, making it to the podium, was 3rd overall woman and 3rd in the 20 category. Congratulations and well done Aisling.
TIPPERARY JUNIOR SENIOR MASTERS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP
The Tipperary Junior Senior Track & Field Championship took place in Templemore on Sunday 21st April. We had three athletes from the club compete in various events.
