Cratloe Challenge: The Fourth Summer/Autumn Trail League Race
June 12, 2024
This evening marks the fourth race in the Summer/Autumn IMRA Munster Trail League, the highly anticipated Cratloe IMRA race. Following the excitement of the initial three races held at Garryduff Woods, Darby's Bed, and the 3 Counties Trail/S. Luachra, tonight's race promises to be a riveting continuation in Co. Clare's beautiful terrain.
Under the expert guidance of Race Director Aoife Fitzgerald, the Cratloe race features a route that combines fire-road, single track, and a hint of forest trail. Spanning approximately 8.9km with an elevation gain of 227m, the course is known for its fast-paced downhills, concluding with a challenging uphill section that promises to test the endurance and strategy of all participants.
The main race kicks off at 8:00 PM, with 54 eager competitors set to tackle the dynamic course. For those looking for a shorter challenge, a 2.5km short course with 50m of ascent begins at 7:30 PM, offering a taste of the trail running excitement.
As the fourth race out of a total of twelve in the league, Cratloe's event is a critical juncture for runners aiming to make their mark in the league standings. The previous races have already showcased some stellar performances, setting a competitive tone that is expected to carry through to tonight's event.
With the entry list finalised last night, participants are now gearing up for what promises to be an exhilarating race in the scenic landscapes of Cratloe. Whether they're tackling the main course or the short course, runners can look forward to a memorable evening of running.
