Conor Penney Leaps to New Heights: Breaks Record at Tailteann Games

Conor Penney, the young prodigy from Craughwell AC and Calasanctius Oranmore, has once again demonstrated his exceptional talent in the high jump, achieving a remarkable 2.09m at the Tailteann Games last weekend. This achievement not only secured him a new personal best but also elevated him to the second-best performer in the European under-18 category for this season.

At just 15 years old, Penney's performances are nothing short of extraordinary. His leap of 2.09 metres shattered the previous Tailteann Games record of 2.06 metres, which had stood since 2000 when Adrian O’Dwyer achieved that mark. The record-breaking jump was preceded by another impressive clearance at 2.07m, before the record books were rewritten for the second time with the 2.09 jump.

Penney's ascent to the top ranks of the European under-18 standings is a testament to his hard work in training. His achievement also places him at an impressive seventh position globally in his age group, further highlighting his emergence as a formidable force in athletics.
