Climbing to Victory: Highlights from the Seefin Uphill Race 2024

The IMRA Seefin Uphill race unfolded amidst favorable weather conditions on Friday, April 12th, at 7pm. With a challenging course spanning 4 kilometres and a demanding elevation gain of 350 metres, the event attracted runners from across the island, showcasing the competitive spirit and prowess that was on display.
The race commenced with a brisk start, featuring a short downhill stretch that quickly gave way to the arduous ascent towards the summit of Seefin. Both Junior and Senior categories were part of the Euro Uphill Trials, adding an extra layer of intensity and significance to the competition.
A total of 72 participants entered the race, each bringing their determination and skill to the forefront. The event drew serious talent, reflecting the importance of this race and the draw that is Seefin.
In the Junior category, the top performers displayed exceptional speed. In the female category, Caitlin Hughes secured the first position, followed by Sinead Farrell in second place and Siobhan O'Loughlin claiming the third spot. On the male side, Finn Yore emerged victorious, with Colm O'Neill and Ethan McMullan clinching the second and third positions, respectively.
The Senior race witnessed a display of extraordinary athleticism and determination. Sarah McCormack stood out in the female category, claiming the top spot, followed closely by Sophie Daly in second place and Kealey Tideswell securing the third position. In the male category, Zak Hanna showcased his prowess by finishing first, while Killian Mooney and Aaron McGrady impressed with their second and third-place finishes.
The success of the Seefin Uphill race would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Race Director Robbie Williams and the numerous volunteers who contributed their time and energy to ensure a smooth and memorable event.
