Kenya's World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has died following a car crash.

The accident also claimed the life of his coach Gervais Hakizimana.

Kiptum emerged in 2023 as a rival to his compatriot Eliud Kipchoge.

Kiptum who was just 24, broke his fellow Kenyan superstar Eliud Kipchoge's Marathon world record last October with a time of 2:00:35 in Chicago.
