Under the lights, midweek, and flat out from the gun. The Armagh International Road Races return this evening, and once again a strong Irish contingent is set to take centre stage.
The Armagh International Road Races have built a reputation over decades as one of the most competitive short-distance road events on the calendar. Organised by Armagh AC, the meeting boasts both an elite 5K for men and a 3K for women on the flat, fast circuit around The Mall in Armagh city.
What sets Armagh apart is depth as much as speed. Year after year it delivers extraordinary performance numbers right through the field, not just at the very front:
In the 2025 men’s 5K, 154 runners dipped under 15 minutes, a huge depth of qualty for a road 5K.
In that same race, 41 women ran under 10 minutes for the 3K.
In earlier editions, hundreds of athletes have run sub-15 minutes, with fields stacked by international entries.
🇮🇪 Men’s 5K
🏃♂️ Nick Griggs
🏃♂️ Callum Morgan
🏃♂️ Cormac Dalton
🏃♂️ Keelan Kilrehill
🏃♂️ Kevin McGrath
🏃♂️ Micheál Power
🏃♂️ Finley Daly
🏃♂️ Lughaidh Mallon
🏃♂️ Michael Murphy
🏃♂️ Tadhg Donnelly
U23 Euro Gold Medalist Nick Griggs will headline the Irish interest, but there is depth throughout the field. With Armagh’s pace traditionally aggressive from the opening kilometre, positioning and rhythm will be crucial.
Morgan, Dalton and Kilrehill bring strong road and cross country credentials, while the likes of Power, Daly and Mallon add further quality to what promises to be a stacked men’s contest.
🇮🇪 Women’s 3K
🏃♀️ Emily Haggard-Kearney
🏃♀️ Danielle Donegan
🏃♀️ Fiona Everard
🏃♀️ Kirsty Maher
🏃♀️ Róise Roberts
🏃♀️ Cheryl Nolan
2025 National Cross Country Champion Fiona Everard arrives as one of the most recognisable names in the field, with Donegan and Maher among those capable of strong early-season statements. With the compact circuit and constant surging, there is little margin for error once the pace settles.
