🏃♀ 2025 Ballyhoura Winter Trail Challenge – A Moonlit Adventure! 🌙✨
Prepare for an unforgettable night-time trail running experience with the Ballyhoura Winter Trail Challenge. This challenging yet rewarding event takes runners through stunning woodlands and over rugged mountain terrain under the stars.

📍 Location: Scoil Pol, Kilfinane, County Limerick
🎽 What’s on Offer:
Distance: 28.00 km
Climb: 900 meters
Event Difficulty: Very Difficult (9/10) – Demanding terrain with over 500m ascent.
Marking: Fully marked route – no navigation required.
GPS Usage: Allowed
🎒 Mandatory Kit (Level C – Advanced):
All participants must bring the following items:
Waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams
Hat or buff
Gloves
Whistle
Fully charged mobile phone with emergency number stored
Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent
Waterproof full leg cover
Means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water
Emergency food
Map of the route/area
Compass
The actual kit requirements will be finalized based on race-day conditions and communicated during registration. Random checks will be conducted, and failure to comply may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
💡 Key Notes for Participants:
There will be a checkpoint approximately 15 km into the course with water, snacks, and support.
Participants must reach the checkpoint within 2 hours 20 minutes to proceed over the mountain section.
Early start (6:00 PM) is available upon request to the Race Director.
