National Senior Indoor T&F Championships, Abbottstown, Dublin
Saturday the 22nd of February will be a day that will live long in the memories of all involved with Moyne A.C. History was made once again by Katie Bergin with an outstanding performance to claim the 123.ie National Senior Indoor 200m title. The day began with the heats. Katie was drawn in heat three and was allocated lane 6. Katie stormed out of the blocks and looked incredibly strong and composed to take the win, in a time of 24.27, which qualified her for the final which was to come later that day. This time was just 0.01 of a second outside Katie’s lifetime best for the 200m indoors and laid down a marker for what was to come later that day. This time was also the fastest qualifier out of the 34 athletes that competed in the heats. At ten minutes to three Katie stepped back into the blocks for the final where she was once again allocated lane six. In last year’s final Katie earned herself the silver medal. Could she go one better this year and put herself the top step of that podium? Well she only went and did just that, once again showing her speed and strength to claim the title smashing her indoor personal best along the way to run a time of 24.03. What an incredible performance this was from Katie, earning her and the club its first national senior indoor title. This time of 24.03 also puts Katie joint 14th on the Irish all time list for the 200m indoor. We are all incredibly proud of Katie. You are an inspiration to young and old and are an amazing role model for our younger athletes to look up too. Well done Katie on the excellent performances and we look forward to what is to come for the rest of the 2025 season.
