Famine Way Ultra 105 miles

The Famine Way Ultra from 26 to 27 July 2025 is an approximately 105 mile ultramarathon from Strokestown in Co Roscommon to Dublin.

This epic journey follows the footsteps of the Strokestown tenants, men, women and children who were marched from Roscommon to Dublin in 1847 after they failed to pay their rent. In Dublin, they boarded a ship to Liverpool before journeying to North America.

The course is relatively traffic-free due to the route being beside the Royal Canal and is also relatively flat.

Entrants have 30 hours to complete the run, with a strict cutoff in place at the 50 mile mark. There will be fixed aid stations on route.
